“Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.”
Positive relationships are essential for any school to thrive. Being a village school we are distinctive in that as a staff, we know each and every child, what makes them tick, what they may need support with and what their strengths are. Small year groups mean that our children become more like family. Each year I watch the children leave our school having built outstanding relationships with one another. They will have developed tolerance, empathy, and a sense of humour along the way; skills which will be essential in all their future experiences.
We want your child to be able to go in whichever direction they choose, this is why we do whatever it takes to ensure your child achieves their potential. Our staff team contains a great amount of expertise and drive; I really don’t think your child could be in better hands! We ensure that through quality first teaching all children can access the learning in our classrooms. Furthermore, we balance creativity, rigour and mastery in order that children are truly inspired and challenged in every lesson.
“Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded.”
― Jess Lair
At William Gilpin our goal is to offer children an excellent all round experience. As a school with a strong Christian ethos, we offer children time for reflection and thought, something I feel is much needed in their busy lives. Our Christian values of courage, compassion and community guide us and make our school even more special.
Alongside their learning, children have the opportunity to take part in a variety of sporting activities and competitions, in fact we are well known for our superb sportsmanship and competitive spirit. Some of my fondest moments involve watching our children give all they’ve got to win but still remember to cheer on others who come in after them.
The arts are particularly important for us too; our ‘Arts Mark’ award celebrates how we have integrated the arts into our daily life at William Gilpin. In addition, many of our children choose to learn an instrument with one of our private music instructors, plus our choir is a real showstopper at our termly services.
"Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results not attributes."
